Introduction<\/b><\/h5>

Q: How long have you been with Curlec and what is your current responsibility?<\/b><\/p>

Adlina:<\/b> I\u2019ve been with Curlec since March 2016 – It\u2019s been 8 years! I started as an intern and then transitioned full-time as a software developer. I develop and maintain our software systems, ensuring they perform well and meet user needs amongst other things.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

About Curlec Subscriptions<\/b><\/h5>

Q: What are subscriptions and why is it important for businesses?<\/b><\/p>

Adlina:<\/b> Subscriptions function through a mechanism that charges customers periodically for a service or product. For our merchants, they offer predictable revenue streams, higher customer retention, and valuable customer insights. Plus, it also reduces administrative burden and missed payments.<\/span><\/p>

Q: What makes Curlec Subscriptions unique?<\/b><\/p>

Adlina:<\/b> We stand out due to several reasons – first is the capability to <\/span>integrate the Touch ‘n Go e-wallet as a payment method<\/b><\/a>. Customers can now subscribe through that, providing an alternative on top of subscription through debit or credit cards.<\/span><\/p>

Our Subscription solution also offers detailed configurations, where merchants can <\/span>set free trial periods<\/b>, <\/span>upfront payments<\/b>, <\/span>flexible billing cycles<\/b>, or<\/span> Charge at Will (CAW)<\/b>. Our platform security also ensures all transactions are processed safely – and that\u2019s really important because it builds trust with both merchants and customers alike.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Crafting Curlec Subscriptions<\/b><\/h5>

Q: What did it take to go live with Subscriptions?<\/b><\/p>

Adlina: <\/b>Well, we started with a robust, flexible recurring subscription product that is built on two main stacks. One of the stacks supports both subscription-based recurring payments and CAW functionality, allowing merchants to set up regular billing cycles or charge customers on an ad-hoc basis. It processes recurring payments via cards and e-wallets. Subsequent payments are managed through API calls, ensuring seamless real-time processing, with visibility into the next payment schedule.<\/span><\/p>

As for design and development, we had to understand our users\u2019 needs, identifying the types of payments, frequency, and specific requirements such as trial periods or upfront fees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Based on these requirements, we designed the product architecture, choosing GoLang and PHP for flexibility and real-time processing. The development process involved writing clean, efficient code, implementing features like API endpoints and scheduling algorithms, and integrating with payment gateways. It\u2019s then followed by extensive testing that ensures system reliability and performance. Once tested, the system is deployed in stages, starting with a beta release before full-scale deployment. It\u2019s all in stages, one step at a time.<\/span><\/p>

We also continuously monitor the system for performance and issues. Our support team is available to assist merchants with any queries or problems. Regular updates add new features, improve existing functionalities, and ensure compliance with the latest security standards.<\/span><\/p>

Q: You\u2019ve been with Curlec the past 8 years – what makes it enriching?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Adlina: <\/b>As a software developer, my career progression focuses on continuous learning and leadership development. I aim to deepen my expertise in technologies while taking on more project leadership roles. And I\u2019m able to do exactly that in Curlec throughout the eight years I\u2019ve been here. More so, I see myself contributing to a whole lot more – from strategic planning to shaping the technological vision of the organisation.<\/span><\/p>
